Abuse In Spiritual Contexts

EVENT – Abuse in spiritual contexts, Thu 8th Dec 2022, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Amina MWRC would like to invite you as a member of our community to work on solutions for better safeguarding in religious spaces. This event is in association with SACRED body:mind:space and their research partner The Markfield Centre for the Study of Wellbeing.

Our keynote speaker will be Dr Rahmanara Chowdhury, author of Qawwamoon; Protectors and Maintainers’ and ‘Road to Recovery,’ who completed her PhD exploring Domestic Violence and Abuse in the UK Muslim population at Brunel University London. She will share her reflections on the impact of abuse on faith and our communities.

We hope to gather ideas for actions we as organisations working on or with this issue can take to promote healthy communities and make reporting accessible when anything goes wrong.

If you are unable to attend, you can still take part in this survey here: https://bit.ly/3M1ZFcV

Note: This event is not for survivor support but is solution-focused. Examples from participants’ experiences however are welcome.

The session will not be recorded.

Please register via this link if you are able to attend: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/abuses-in-spiritual-contexts-tickets-465687151807
